What is an assessment test?
Employee Assessment tests basically fall into one of two categories. The first, known as Pre-Employment testing, are tests used in the interview and hiring process to screen potential new applicants. These tests vary on the industry but are mainly used to gauge a potential candidate’s knowledge and current skill level. The second type of test goes by many names: Employee Competency Test, Job Assessment Test, Job Skills Test, Workforce Skills Assessment, etc… etc… These tests are just like pre-employment tests with the main difference being that they are designed to test and analyze current employee knowledge, skill set, and capabilities.

What can candidates expect during their assessment?
The NBS online testing system is an easy to navigate online platform. If candidates have never experienced an online test before, they have the opportunity to try the testing system prior to logging into their test. NBS requires that all assessments be taken in a proctored environment. Candidates will be required to show proof of ID. Each assessment has an assigned time limit based on the number of questions.
How can candidates study or practice for an upcoming assessment?
Each test has an Assessment Blueprint that can be downloaded free of charge from the NBS websites under the Assessments tab. These blueprints contain the core and critical competencies covered on the test. In addition, there are study guides available for the Entry Level battery of assessments. A test candidate can contact an NBS representative to determine if they are eligible to purchase a study guide.
What happens after a candidate takes an assessment?
In most cases, when the candidate has completed their assessment the score will appear on their screen, however, the organization administering the test determines if the test-candidate is able to see their score. If the organization has opted for the candidate to not see the score, he or she will need to contact the organization for score results.
When will the company know how the candidate did on their assessment?
Once the test candidate completes the test, the site coordinator is immediately emailed a preliminary score report with the candidate’s overall score as well as their scores by duty area. After tests are released to the scoring system, a formal score report will be available within two business days.
